Description: Unique, perhaps one of a kind, French 18kt. gold love token inscribed, "Le feu épure l'or l'emblème de la vertu" which, in English, means, " Fire purifies (purges) gold which is the symbol of virtue." The meaning behind this colloquial expression is that the intensity of one's love for another cleans the love and makes it pure and virutous. The hand on the brooch is adorned with a gemstone. Note the long pin stem, typical of the Georgian era.
