Description:  this is simply a GREAT piece.  I have never seen a sepia brooch with this motif.  Also, please note that the shield she is holding is covered with hair---most likely the hair of her loved one. The dog was a symbol of fidelity so this piece is undoubtedly a marriage piece or love token.  dog1.jpg
