Description: The picture in this pendant is actually hairwork on ivory!! When you look at the piece with a loupe you can see the tiny pieces of hair that were used to make the memorial image. The background is ivory and the pendant is 14kt. rose gold. The writing on the front says, "Katharine Thorley ob May 13, 1775 aet at 69". On the back of the pendant is beautifully engraved initials. I bought this piece in the US and think it might have been made in the US. The date is written in an American style (month and then day, not the other way around) and it is 14kt. which was one of the gold standards used in the US.
