This fine quality box was made around the turn of the century in Pforzheim.    Prior to 1940,  Pforzheim was  a renowned center for jewelry and decorative arts.   Most of the best examples of Jugendstil jewelry and art came out of the artists guilds in Pforzheim.     ( The Pforzheim artist guild mark is located in the bottom of the hinged box. )

The interior of the box still retains its warm, rich gold gilding.
