Georgian mourning miniature

This Georgian memorial is comprised of multi-colored hair applied to ivory. The hair is 3 dimensional in several places:  the vine on the broken column, the tree near the broken column, and the grass and flowers.    The symbolic nature of this memorial very somber feeling.

The mourning miniature has the artists initials in the lower left corner.      It is uncommon to find hair art with an artist signature or initials.
