Georgian mourning pendant, original fitted case

An unusual Georgian mourning miniature pendant in its original, fitted case.    The  sepia and hair work miniature on ivory is set in a rose gold setting.    The mourning miniature  depicts a young woman mourning at a tomb inscribed Sacred To The Best Of Friends.   A cherub hovers above, unfurling a banner inscribed To Bliss.   In the background are cypress trees, (a symbol of death) and also weeping willows (symbolizing grief).    What is unusual about this miniature is the mourner’s attire – instead of the usual classical white dress,  she wears fashionable Georgian  black mourning attire.   The reverse is set with a crisscross weave of hair under glass.    The mourning miniature is also under glass (original).   The miniature is in its original traveling case.
