Georgian mourning ring, 1726

This George I era memento mori ring has a faceted crystal atop a black enamelled band.   The inscription around the band reads,  “E:  Hinde  ob: 1 Apr 1726 AE T: 45″.   (Note the archaic use of a Z for a 1).

Inside the band of this 18kt. gold ring the name, Lawrence, is inscribed. The block lettering indicates the name was added in the Victorian era.

Dimensions:  US size 6.25,  width of band is 0.2 cm

Year:  dated 1726

Condition:  excellent, minor surface scratches on the enamel can be seen with a 20x loupe
