“My dear husband..” Victorian mourning ring

Poignant Victorian 18kt. yellow gold mourning ring inscribed,  “My dear husband died April 2  1882″.   The ring bears English hallmarks but commemorated the death of an American.   The manner in which the date is written tells us this was inscribed in the US,  not England.

18kt. yellow gold ring is decorated with black enamel.

Dimensions:  US finger size 8;  width is 0.6 cm or approx. 1/3 inch

Condition: excellent,  very minor wear to enamel

    thanks for calling me back. I am interested in the victorian mourning ring. I am in mourning and i find that there is little to symbolize that in our culture, but if i wore a ring like this then people would know. In victorian times there were, as you know symbolic jewelry, and people would know you were in mourning, now there is nothing. Anyway please let me know thank you..Jesse
