Victorian silver bangle adorned with ivy

This fine quality sterling banglehas raised ivy leaves across a brushed and etched background. The effect is very eye catching. Bangle is much prettier than the photos depict!
The ancient Greeks used ivy to crown victorious athletes. To the ancient Romans, ivy symbolized intellectual achievement.
During the Victorian era, flowers and plants took the place of words and symbolized the feelings and intentions of the gift giver.
A gift of ivy expressed fidelity, friendship and symbolized eternity.
Therefore, snips of ivy were often used in wedding bouquets, funeral wreaths, and grave site memorials.
