Victorian amethyst and pearl earrings
Very fine quality Victorian 18kt. yellow gold earrings accented with natural pearls and amethysts. The amethysts are perfectly matched in color. The pearls are set using a gold post through their center, a sign of top quality workmanship.
Amethyst is the birthstone for February and has long been the color worn by Royalty. The Victorians cherished the amethyst because they believed it relieved anxiety; bringing inner peace to those who wore it.
Amethyst jewelry was also worn during the second stage of mourning.
